Celebrating LÜRZER’S Archive 200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide 23/24
Being selected and included in Lurzer’s Archive: 200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide 23/24 is a huge career highlight for me! I remember my first love with photography was its ability to capture a feeling.
Starting my career as a commercial photographer, I wanted to show that I could do what the successful photographers of the day were doing. Now, in many ways, I’ve come full circle; I want to create evocative imagery that makes you feel something and relates to the human experience. This project falls into that category; hence, I’m very proud of that acknowledgment from Lurzer's Archive!
Domnatio Memoriae was a personal project shot in Havana, Cuba, created as part of The Series Project 2023. It captures the essence of a crumbling society, contrasted with the Cuban people's metaphorical richness of spirit that belies their hardship.
DOMNATIO MEMORIAE - A TALE OF LOVE AND LOSS
Life is hard at the moment. How many of us have questioned: "Is this the life we really want to live?" Cuba showed me that instead of numbing ourselves, we could let passion be our guide. The buildings in Havana allude to the decay of its civilisation; like a metaphor for the burden her people bear. But to let ruin one part of your soul is to let another shine brighter to compensate. The Cuban people have a richness of spirit that belies the hardship. A contrast that is played out in the daily choice of life over death - richness over decay. You can see the full series here.
