Suddenly Vulnerable

Nina Simone said it brilliantly: “It’s an artist's duty to reflect the times in which we live.”

After the initial joy of having time on my hands during our lockdown, I found myself waking up with a sense of dread, due to my lack of control, and the desire to meaningfully connect with my clients. Vulnerability was a word that kept coming to me. Finding strength as a result of it became my subject.

I ended up making a short film about trying to make sense of my fears and insecurities, and the importance of being there for someone else.

Part of being vulnerable was handing over control of the camera and being the subject. I felt very blessed that my family embraced the challenge to make it a family project. A film about family, filmed by family, starring family, using a soundtrack from the band my son-in-law was part of.
