Affinity. Closeness. Longing for connection. These shared experiences are what elevate our lives beyond mere existence. Good or bad, they are the muse for poetry, the rhythm of music, and the ‘heart’ in our heart. This body of work is about exploring just that: our humanity seen through how we connect with something outside ourselves. That moment when we bare our souls and open our hearts.
I recently worked with Sherlock Creative shooting some stills for a Zip Hydrotap commercial staring Jamie Durie. It was shot in a gorgeous house in Avalon which is always a fantastic way to spend the day. I've worked with Jamie before and he's a friendly and very down to earth guy. The hydrotap itself was pretty extravagant providing boiling water, sparkling water and ice-cold water on tap. That would be very handy in the studio. Here are some behind the scene shots and stills I took and here's the commercial.
Here's a pic from a gorgeous morning at Bilgola Beach a few weeks ago. Hopefully this brightens up your morning. It was such a nice way to start the day, swimming in the warm water. By chance, I shared the dawn with a film crew filming Jamie Durie surfing. I was working with them on the same shoot a few days earlier and they were shooting the final takes.
Speaking of beaches, I was pretty happy to discover that I was nominated in the Abstract, and Fine Art categories in the International Colour Awards for two of my seascapes. Lots of great photography there, so have a look.
