Affinity. Closeness. Longing for connection. These shared experiences are what elevate our lives beyond mere existence. Good or bad, they are the muse for poetry, the rhythm of music, and the ‘heart’ in our heart. This body of work is about exploring just that: our humanity seen through how we connect with something outside ourselves. That moment when we bare our souls and open our hearts.

Scott starts work at 3am at the lobster docks in Maine. I'm pretty sure it's his rapport with his workmates that he enjoys most of all.

The kids feed the birds in Union Square Park, Manhattan. I love how the bird mirrors the children's body language.

In the Hasidic neighbourhood where I live, family and community are treasured. Most of it is behind closed doors.  These ladies are out for a walk on the Sabbath and admire each others babies as they pass on the sidewalk.

Connor & April, Sydney, 2016

Connor and April have come to stay at the Ronald McDonald's house to support Connor's cousin, Tayah.  Tayah is 12 and has acute myeloid leukemia. She's just finished her first round of chemo and is still in the isolation ward. They're hoping she'll come down to the house soon to meet the other kids. Having Connor there will lift Tayah's spirits and keep her entertained.

Laura & Rachael, Sydney, 2016

Laura’s brother, Connor has cerebral palsy.  It’s been a very long journey for the family as they’ve been coming to the RMHC for many years.

It’s emotionally draining and not easy on any of them. Laura’s siblings have been taking turns coming to Sydney. Tomorrow they can go home and are going via the zoo to celebrate.
